His Story
For Dwight Thompson, leadership has never been just something he talks about as it’s something he’s had to live.
For more than a decade, Dwight has dedicated himself to developing young people, building programs, and creating opportunities for the next generation.
His journey began alongside his brother, with a shared vision of using sports and mentorship to make a difference in the lives of young people. Together, they began building what would eventually become Rise League Inc, an organization committed to helping young people grow both on and off the court.
Then life changed unexpectedly when Dwight lost his brother at just 27 years old on Mother’s Day in 2024.
Faced with unimaginable loss, Dwight had a choice: allow adversity to stop the vision they started together, or find the strength to keep building.
He chose to keep going.
That experience reshaped Dwight’s understanding of leadership, discipline, perseverance, and purpose. The same principles that now sit at the heart of the messages he shares with audiences.
More Than the Stage
Beyond the stage, Dwight serves as Executive Director and Co-Founder of Rise League, a nonprofit organization focused on developing young people through sports, leadership, career exposure, and mentorship.
Under his leadership, Rise League has created opportunities for thousands of young people and collaborated with respected organizations including DICK’S Sporting Goods, the Orlando Magic, Florida Blue, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other community partners.
Building and leading an organization through growth, partnership, adversity, and change has shaped Dwight’s perspective on what leadership actually requires.
